The Valley Art Center’s gallery presents several shows during the year and each show has an Opening Night Reception which is free and open to the public. Click here for previous exhibits. 2010 Student/Faculty Show Opening Reception: June 25th, 6pm – 8pm June 26th – July 29th We at the Valley Art Center believe there is considerable value in honoring a pupil’s artistic expression. Viewing one’s own artwork in a gallery setting instills confidence and camaraderie with fellow artists. Parents gain pride when they see their children’s endeavors in visual expression. Instructors, who often keep their own work out of the classroom, are also given an opportunity to display their craftsmanship. Viewing one’s art alongside other’s work is important for an artist. There is a responsibility to share our view of the world with our community. This is what the Valley Art Center is all about! Presenting, promoting, and teaching the arts. The 2010 Student/Faculty Show encourages students and faculty to display one of their best 2D or 3D works (completed after 2008), properly framed, wired, and ready to hang as is appropriate to a gallery setting. Please submit your completed registration form by Monday, June 7th, 2010. The Gallery Director must view submitted work before June 7th. Applications are available in the office at 155 Bell St. Liquid Stone Opening Reception: September 10th, 6pm – 8pm The origin is unknown but glass first appeared in 1500 BC in the form of beads. Over a thousand years later, the introduction of glass blowing revolutionized the industry. Artists were exposed to a whole new process of manipulating and molding the liquid stone. Today, glass still has functional uses but the artistic presence is more popular then ever. The Valley Art Center explores glass’ aesthetic presence in our world today. Fused, slumped, and stained glass are just a few of the many forms displayed in Liquid Stone. 39th Annual Juried Art Exhibit Opening Reception: November 5th, 6pm – 8pm In its thirty ninth season, the 2010 Juried Art Exhibition invites artists from a 250 mile radius to submit their work for consideration. Our jurors, Roberta and Dave Williamson, professors at Baldwin Wallace College, will curate and award prizes. The result is an intriguing show filled with quality work in many media by the talented artists of our region.
